Such garments should only be washed by hand on a flat surface. Having rinsed the garment and poured the water off, wrap it in a facecloth towel and wring. Never hang the garment while it’s still wet – combed wool can tear due to the water weight. Only dry it spread out and hang it on a padded hanger once it’s half-dry.

If a coat or a jacket is quilted with an attachable piece of fake fur, the exterior of such a garment should be washed separately while the lining should be cleaned with foamed washing powder for silk and wool.
