Such garments should only be washed by hand on a flat surface. Having rinsed the garment and poured the water off, wrap it in a facecloth towel and wring. Never hang the garment while it’s still wet – combed wool can tear due to the water weight. Only dry it spread out and hang it on a padded hanger once it’s half-dry.

Clothes made from raincoat fabrics. Most of these can be washed with regular washing powders. Jackets quilted with non-woven fabrics or batting should be washed very carefully. Before washing, unravel a bit of the lining and check what kind of batting is laid in. If the exterior color of the jacket is dark and that of the batting – light, it is not advised to wash it at home because the dye of the batting can color the whole garment.

Hang the washed and rinsed garment on a padded hanger. Once the water stops dripping, drain it with a sheet or a facecloth towel one more time and dry it fully. Coats and jackets in synthetic combed wool are more difficult to wash because these materials are very unstable and tear easily. Read more…

Then dry it with a facecloth towel and hang it in a well-ventilated place at room temperature. You can also dry it outside in the shade. Comb the dry fur thoroughly. Clean new individual stains with a petrol-soaked and slightly damp wad of cotton wool.

Clothes made from natural fur. It’s no easy task to clean garments made from fuzzy leather and fur velour. Upon noticing the first signs of glossiness, do a preventative cleaning by ruffling the hair with fine-grained sandpaper, metal brush or foam rubber.

By the way, it’s advisable to check the durability of paint beforehand. If it isn’t lodged deeply into the surface, white spots can form while cleaning. If the garment is wet or has snow on it, dry it first and then clean the fine spots that formed due to the moisture. For this task, use a rubber or metal brush.
